Enhancing the Competence of Waste-Conscious Communities through Innovation and Engineering in Kulon Progo Regency

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada, carried out a community service initiative titled “Enhancing the Competence of Waste-Conscious Communities through Innovation and Engineering in Kulon Progo Regency” on 8–10 September 2025. The program was led by Dr. Eng. Ir. Agustinus Winarno, S.T., M.Eng., supported by lecturers, students, educational staff, and local community partners. The implementation team included Handoko, Setyawan Bekti Wibowo, Irfan Bahiuddin, Bambang Hari Priyambodo, Luthfi Athaya Wicaksono, and Ahmad Muhsin Al Mataromi, together with collaborators from KSM Melati and KSM Dadi Asri, represented by Royke Oktavianus Labiro and Suyatin. read more

Yogyakarta, October 28, 2025 — Mujiraharjo, S.T., a Laboratory Technician from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM), has been awarded as the Outstanding Educational Staff during the 2025 UGM Vocational College Anniversary Ceremony. This recognition honors his exceptional dedication and achievements in supporting the implementation of education, research, and community service within the department.

Throughout his tenure, Mujiraharjo has demonstrated remarkable performance through various achievements. In professional development, he strengthened his expertise in design and manufacturing by earning the BNSP 3D CAD Drawing Certification (2022) and the international Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) credential (2025). read more

DTM SV UGM Initiates Community Engagement Collaboration with Kaliagung Village Youth through Tent Fabrication Training Program

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), held an initial coordination meeting with the Youth Pioneer Group of Kaliagung Village, Sentolo Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency. The meeting served as the starting point of a community engagement program in 2025, focusing on welding training and fabrication of a portable event tent.

The program is led by Dr. Bambang Hari Priyambodo, along with a team of lecturers and Mechanical Engineering students, supported by local government representatives and youth communities. The discussion took place at the Field Research Center (FRC), Vocational College UGM, Kulon Progo. read more

Evaluation of Injector Efficiency in Komatsu PC195LC Excavator Engine through a Collaborative Research Framework between DTM SV UGM and PT United Tractors Tbk

Yogyakarta, October 2025 — The research team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), particularly from the Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Management Engineering Study Program (TPPAB), has successfully completed a study focusing on the performance and fuel efficiency analysis of the Komatsu PC195LC diesel engine, with specific emphasis on the fuel injection system and injector components.

This research represents a continuation of a long-term collaborative initiative between academia and industry, aimed at the development of environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient excavator units. The research involved both academic and industry experts, including Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, Sugiyanto, Ilham Ayu Putri Pratiwi, Braam Delfian Prihandianto, Muhammad Novan Budi Prasetyo, Sutikno, Josua Aditya Manuel, Haidar Ali Fikri, Yanuar Khafid H., and Setyawan Adi Nugroho. The study was conducted from July 1 to October 17, 2025, in collaboration with PT United Tractors Tbk Semarang Branch and UT School Semarang. read more

Mechanical Engineering Lecturers of UGM Vocational College Develop Affordable and Simple Ankle Prosthesis

Yogyakarta, April 22, 2025 — A team of lecturers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM) is conducting a research project to design a simple, affordable, and easy-to-manufacture ankle prosthesis. The research takes place at the Design Laboratory of DTM SV UGM from April 22 to October 31, 2025.

The research team consists of Dr. Ir. Handoko, S.T., M.T., Dr. Ir. Lilik Dwi Setyana, S.T., M.T., Ir. Budi Basuki, S.T., M.Eng., Dr. Ir. Setyawan Bekti Wibowo, S.T., M.Eng., and Dr. Ir. Bambang Hari Priambodo, S.T., M.Eng., all from DTM SV UGM. The project also involves Dr. Yani Kurniawan, S.T., M.T. from Universitas Pancasila, Jakarta, and Rizky Kurniawan, an undergraduate student of the Mechanical Design Technology Program at DTM SV UGM. read more
