The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized the Corporate X Industry Talk under the theme “Empowering the Next Generation Through Sustainable Industrial Partnership” on Tuesday, 10 December 2025, at the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC). This activity is part of DTM’s strategic initiative—particularly through the Heavy Equipment Management and Maintenance Program (TPPAB)—to strengthen the connection between vocational education and the sustainability-driven demands of the mining and heavy-equipment industries.

Bringing together speakers from academia, industry, and professional organizations experienced in mining operations and ESG-based (Environmental, Social, and Governance) talent development, the event attracted enthusiastic participation with approximately 200 attendees, including academics, practitioners, and students. The three keynote speakers were:
Ir. Oktarian Wisnu Lusantono, S.T., M.Eng., Program Coordinator & Lecturer, Department of Mining Engineering, UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, presenting “The Role of ESG in Strengthening the National Competitiveness of Nickel Mining Contractors in the Energy Transition Era.”
Dr. Eng. Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering/DTM Vocational College UGM, who also teaches courses related to sustainability, mechanical systems, and heavy-equipment management within TPPAB, delivering the topic “Empowering Future Talent: Integrating ESG Values into Industry-Oriented Education.”
Rexki Syahir, S.T., S.IP., M.B.A., M.Sc., Ph.D., Founder Director and Lead Researcher of the Indonesian Initiative for Sustainable Mining, presenting “Aligning Local Realities with Global Demands: Indonesia’s Nickel Industry Under Global Sustainability Standards.”
The event was also attended by alumni of DTM/SV UGM who are currently pursuing careers at PT Tempopress International Delivery (TID), including several graduates of TPPAB. Their presence provided students with firsthand insights into the competencies required in the heavy-equipment and mining-services industries, further reinforcing TPPAB’s relevance to modern industrial ecosystems.

The discussion was moderated by Muh. Arasfit, S.T., Business Development at PT Tempopress International Delivery. The forum highlighted the importance of integrating ESG principles into vocational education, especially for TPPAB students who will directly engage with heavy-equipment operations, safety systems, energy efficiency, and industry sustainability standards.
Through interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session, participants gained valuable perspectives on best practices in the mining industry, global trends in mineral governance, and potential opportunities for applied research and industrial projects involving TPPAB students and other programs within DTM.

This event further strengthens DTM’s—particularly TPPAB’s—commitment to preparing graduates who are technically competent, sustainability-minded, and ready to contribute to the heavy-equipment, mining, and energy sectors.
The activity also supports the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
