The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UGM, organized a public lecture and partnership discussion with PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The event took place at the TILC Ballroom, Vocational College UGM.
The event carried the theme “Bridging Education and Industry: Exploring Smart Manufacturing 4.0 with Mitsubishi Electric”, highlighting efforts to strengthen the linkage between academia and industry, particularly in addressing advancements in smart manufacturing within the Industry 4.0 era.
The program commenced with an opening remark by the Dean of the Vocational College UGM, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and industry to ensure the alignment of graduates’ competencies with industrial needs. “The synergy between academia and industry is key to preparing graduates to face global challenges,” he stated.
Following this, Mr. Ivan Chandra, Head of Division (Factory Automation and Industrial Division) of PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia, shared insights on the role of industry in driving digital transformation in the manufacturing sector. He highlighted that collaboration with educational institutions is crucial in building a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
The lecture featured three main topics. The first topic, Company Overview, was presented by Mrs. Yunike Julian, outlining the company’s profile and development. The second topic, Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation Product Overview, was delivered by Ms. Novita Dewi Lestari and Mr. Cendy Kurniawan, focusing on industrial automation technologies. The third topic, Mitsubishi Electric Solution for Manufacturing in Industry 4.0, was presented by Mr. Ivan Chandra, discussing the implementation of digital-based smart manufacturing solutions.
This activity is expected to strengthen collaboration between UGM and PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia in education, research, and technological development. It also provided students with valuable insights into current industrial practices relevant to their academic fields.
This initiative contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by fostering collaboration between academia and industry to develop highly competent and innovative human resources.
