YOGYAKARTA — Rian Miftahul Huda, an alumnus of the Applied Bachelor Program in Heavy Equipment Management and Maintenance (TPPAB), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), received the Best Paper Award at the 12th International Conference and Exhibition on Sustainable Energy and Advanced Materials (ICE-SEAM) 2026. The international conference was held on September 10–11, 2026, at Truntum Kuta, Bali, Indonesia.

The award was presented for the paper entitled “Data-Driven Parameter Optimization of Heavy-Duty Electro-Hydraulic Actuators Balancing Dynamic Tracking and Volumetric Loss.” The paper was developed from Rian’s final project at the TPPAB Program, DTM SV UGM, under the supervision of Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng. After completing his studies, Rian has also been actively involved as a teaching assistant at DTM SV UGM.
The paper was authored by Rian Miftahul Huda, Irfan Bahiuddin, Farhan Fadhlurrahman, M. Hilmi Wicaksono, Feri Arifin, Andhi Akhmad Ismail, and Mohd Hatta Mohammed Ariff. The research focuses on a data-driven approach to optimizing the parameters of electro-hydraulic actuators for heavy-duty applications by considering the balance between dynamic tracking performance and volumetric loss.
The research was subsequently developed into a scientific paper and presented at ICE-SEAM 2026, which carried the theme “Integrating Green Energy, Advanced Materials, and Sustainable Manufacturing for Net Zero Transformation.” Following the conference evaluation process, the paper by Rian and the research team was selected to receive the Best Paper Award.
This achievement demonstrates the potential of student final projects to be further developed into research outputs that can be presented and recognized at international scientific forums. It also strengthens the integration of education, research, and technological development relevant to heavy equipment management and maintenance at DTM SV UGM.
This achievement aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, through strengthening student learning and research; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through the development of electro-hydraulic actuator technology for heavy-duty applications; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through research collaboration and the dissemination of scientific findings. read more

Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, S.T., M.Eng. (familiarly known as Dr. Ade), a lecturer at the Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), served as the Global Lead Instructor in the “Nomatech Challenge: Problem to Prototyping” event. This first-ever product development bootcamp in Mongolia was officially organized by the Gerlab Engineering Workshop, Ulaanbaatar Science and Technology Park, National University of Mongolia (NUM) from August 10 to 18, 2026, and is part of the international COP17 activities. read more

YOGYAKARTA – The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM) held the Graduation Release Ceremony for Period IV of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. A total of 78 graduates were officially released during a solemn event held in Room 218, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sekip Unit IV, from 01:30 PM to 04:00 PM WIB.

The graduating cohort consisted of students from two study programs: 48 graduates from the Applied Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering Technology (TRM) program and 30 graduates from the Applied Bachelor in Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Management Technology (TPPAB) program. YOGYAKARTA — The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a two-day technical training on automation control from Monday to Tuesday, August 11–12. The event took place at the Automation Control Laboratory, 2nd Floor, Grafika Building, DTM SV UGM, featuring expert instructor Anggara Riyadi from PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia (MEIN).

The training was attended by 13 participants, including faculty members, educational staff, and laboratory personnel from DTM SV UGM. Among the attendees were Ir. Andhi Akhmad Ismail, S.T., M.Eng.; Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN.Eng.; Dr. Ir. Widia Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM.; Ir. Budi Basuki, S.T., M.Eng.; Ir. Felixtianus Eko Wismo Winarto, M.Sc., Ph.D.; alongside technical staff and laboratory engineers. YOGYAKARTA — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), held a strategic discussion with representatives from the National University of Singapore (NUS) on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The meeting, held in the DTM SV UGM Meeting Room from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., discussed potential collaboration on processing plastic bottle waste into filament for 3D printing, which could be utilized in community service activities in Yogyakarta.

The visit was attended by Derick Tay, Chok-Oon-Kit Khanatip, and their team from NUS, who visited DTM SV UGM in person. Representatives from DTM SV UGM included Dr.Eng. The national conference took place at the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC) Building, SV UGM, Yogyakarta.

SNTM XVI 2026 was organized as a collaborative platform to disseminate research outcomes, technological innovations, and strategic insights among academics, researchers, and industry practitioners.
