UGM Lecturer’s Impact in Mongolia: Guiding Young Innovators to the COP17 Stage

ULAANBAATAR – In an effort to expand international collaboration and make a tangible contribution to solving the global environmental crisis, Dr. Eng. Ir. Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, S.T., M.Eng. (familiarly known as Dr. Ade), a lecturer at the Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), served as the Global Lead Instructor in the “Nomatech Challenge: Problem to Prototyping” event. This first-ever product development bootcamp in Mongolia was officially organized by the Gerlab Engineering Workshop, Ulaanbaatar Science and Technology Park, National University of Mongolia (NUM) from August 10 to 18, 2026, and is part of the international COP17 activities. read more

Enhancing Industrial Automation Competence, DTM SV UGM Holds Technical Training with PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia

YOGYAKARTA — The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada organized a two-day technical training on automation control from Monday to Tuesday, August 11–12. The event took place at the Automation Control Laboratory, 2nd Floor, Grafika Building, DTM SV UGM, featuring expert instructor Anggara Riyadi from PT Mitsubishi Electric Indonesia (MEIN).

 

The training was attended by 13 participants, including faculty members, educational staff, and laboratory personnel from DTM SV UGM. Among the attendees were Ir. Andhi Akhmad Ismail, S.T., M.Eng.; Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN.Eng.; Dr. Ir. Widia Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM.; Ir. Budi Basuki, S.T., M.Eng.; Ir. Felixtianus Eko Wismo Winarto, M.Sc., Ph.D.; alongside technical staff and laboratory engineers. This initiative was aimed at strengthening the human resource capacity in mastering state-of-the-art industrial automation technologies to support modern, industry-aligned laboratory education. read more

DTM SV UGM and NUS Explore Collaboration on Recycling Plastic Bottles into 3D Printing Filament for Community Service

YOGYAKARTA — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), held a strategic discussion with representatives from the National University of Singapore (NUS) on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The meeting, held in the DTM SV UGM Meeting Room from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., discussed potential collaboration on processing plastic bottle waste into filament for 3D printing, which could be utilized in community service activities in Yogyakarta.

The visit was attended by Derick Tay, Chok-Oon-Kit Khanatip, and their team from NUS, who visited DTM SV UGM in person. Representatives from DTM SV UGM included Dr.Eng. Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, S.T., M.Eng.; Dr. Ir. Sugiyanto, S.T., M.Eng., IPM.; Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng.; Dr. Ir. Bambang Hari Priyambodo, S.T., M.Eng.; and staff members of the Industrial Equipment Laboratory. The meeting marked an initial step toward establishing an international partnership focusing on recycling technology and community service. read more

A team from the Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada, conducted an industrial visit to PT Fuji Seat Indonesia on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The activity formed part of an effort to strengthen engagement between higher education and industry, particularly in supporting applied learning, competency development, and knowledge exchange related to manufacturing processes.

The UGM delegation consisted of Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng. and Dr. Ilham Ayu Putri Pratiwi, S.T. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College UGM, as well as Isnan Nur Rifa’i, S.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D. and Prima Asmara Sejati, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Vocational College UGM. read more

DTM SV UGM Holds International Guest Lecture on CAD and Additive Manufacturing Applications

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada successfully held an International Guest Lecture entitled “CAD for Engineering Design and Additive Manufacturing Applications” on Thursday, 4 June 2026. The event was conducted online via Zoom from 07:30 to 09:15 WIB or 08:30 to 10:15 Malaysia Time.

The guest lecture featured Dr. Abdul Yasser bin Abd Fatah, Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Coordinator of the Master of Science in Engineering Design, Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, UTM. The session was attended by students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College UGM, as part of learning enrichment in a course taught by Assoc. Prof. Ir. DTM SV UGM Holds International Guest Lecture on CAD/CAE Technologies for Industry 4.0

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada held an international guest lecture entitled “Exploring the Latest CAD/CAE Technologies: Essential Skills for Industry 4.0” on Thursday, 7 May 2026, from 07.30 to 09.15 AM Jakarta time. The lecture was conducted online and featured Dr. Kyaw Myo Aung from the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Curtin University Malaysia.

The guest lecture discussed the latest developments in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), which play an increasingly important role in product design, simulation, and optimization in the Industry 4.0 era. In his presentation, Dr. Kyaw Myo Aung explained how engineering design and simulation tools can support more efficient design processes, reduce resource consumption, and improve engineering decision-making in industries such as automotive and aerospace. read more

MATLAB Team Visits Department of Mechanical Engineering, UGM Vocational College to Explore Academic Collaboration

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada welcomed a visit from the team of MathWorks on Friday, 30 January 2026, from 13.00 to 15.00 WIB. The visit took place at the DTM premises, Jl. Yacaranda Sekip Unit IV, Yogyakarta, and was conducted as part of a sponsorship visit and an initial discussion on potential collaboration between the two institutions.

The MathWorks delegation consisted of Bambang Nugroho (Account Manager, Indonesia), Ade Pratama (Application Engineer, Indonesia), and Yaswenee (CWL Success Story, Malaysia). The visit followed the successful sponsorship collaboration with Team Yacaranda, whose members achieved several category wins at PLN ICE 2025. read more
