


Yogyakarta, 17 November 2025 — The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Vocational School, Universitas Gadjah Mada conducted an International Guest Lecture titled “An Introduction to Machine Learning: From Theory to Practice.” This event aims to broaden students’ understanding of artificial intelligence technologies while strengthening international academic collaboration.
The guest lecture featured Dr. Kasma Diana Binti Saharuddin from the Department of Engineering and Built Environment, Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT), Penang, Malaysia. The session was held online via Zoom.

The event was coordinated and moderated by Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng. Participants included students from the IoT Practice and Control Engineering classes, as well as students from the Heavy Equipment Management and Maintenance Program (TPPAB) and the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program (TRM). Several students from other classes also joined the session.

Running from 09.00 to 10.30 WIB, the session proceeded smoothly. Dr. Kasma Diana delivered an introduction to machine learning concepts, showcased real-world applications, and explained common workflows in building data-driven models. During the Q&A session, students participated actively by raising questions related to industrial implementation challenges and potential research avenues.
This activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through the enhancement of technological literacy, strengthened global academic partnerships, and the promotion of digital innovation in education.
