UGM Vocational School Conducts Heavy Equipment Safety Training at SMKN 1 Ngawen to Support SDGs

The five lecturer of UGM Vocational School, Mechanical Engineering Department has carried out Safety Training on Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance at SMKN 1 Ngawen, Gunungkidul. This program was conducted on June 1 to November 30 2025 with the aim of improving teachers’ skills in hazard identification, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), using personal protective equipment, and practicing safe workshops.

The evaluation results demonstrated a remarkable enhancement in the participants’ understanding of the principles of occupational health and safety. The teachers who participated in the training were able to formulate responsive and structured JSAs at the level of the industry and exhibited a greater understanding of the practices of risk control in the workshops of heavy equipment. read more

Enhancing Vocational School Teachers’ Competence in Heavy Equipment through Reverse Engineering Technology Training

Yogyakarta, September 2025 — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM) organized a community service program titled “Enhancing Vocational School Teachers’ Competence in Heavy Equipment through Reverse Engineering Technology Training” held from September 8–10, 2025, at both the DTM SV UGM and Fablab Jogja Indonesia, located within the Field Research Center (FRC) UGM, Kulon Progo.

The program was led by  Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, along with lecturers and students from DTM SV UGM: Setyawan Bekti Wibowo, Handoko, Sugiyanto, Agustinus Winarno, Ilham Ayu Putri Pratiwi, Tofaenal Akhyar, Luthfi Athaya Wicaksono, and Ahmad Muhsin Al Mataromi. They were supported by Ahmat Hari Setiyawan, technical staff from the CoE Fablab Jogja Indonesia, and industrial collaborators from PT United Tractors, Tbk. Semarang Branch, Josua Aditya Manuel and Muhammad Novan Budi Prasetya. read more

Ngawen, 18 September 2025 — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada, officially concluded its community service program titled “Enhancing Competence of Vocational School Teachers in Heavy Equipment”, which had been carried out since 18 August 2025. The closing event was held at SMKN 1 Ngawen, Gunungkidul, and was attended by lecturers from DTM SV UGM, industry representatives, and participating teachers from partner vocational schools. read more

Yogyakarta, 18 September 2025 — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada, has completed a one-month community service program titled “Enhancing Competency of Vocational School Teachers in Heavy Equipment”. This program officially began with an opening ceremony on 18 August 2025 and concluded on 18 September 2025. The initiative aimed to strengthen the technical skills of vocational school teachers in line with technological advancements in the heavy equipment sector. read more

IoT Training for Heavy Equipment: A Joint Initiative by DTM SV UGM and PT United Tractors

Yogyakarta, 16 September 2025 – The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), in collaboration with PT United Tractors, successfully conducted a Training on IoT Applications in Heavy Equipment as part of its community service initiatives. The program was held online on 15 September 2025 and continued with an in-person session on 16 September 2025 at the Sekip Campus, DTM SV UGM.

Participants from three vocational high schools—SMKN 1 Ngawen, SMK Veteran 1 Sukoharjo, and SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Playen—joined the training. The program was led by Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM, supported by academic staff such as M. Hilmi Wicaksono, S.T., alongside student and alumni assistants including Rian Miftahul Huda and Yogi Ilham Ruswara. PT United Tractors played a key role as the industrial partner in this initiative. read more
