

The five lecturer of UGM Vocational School, Mechanical Engineering Department has carried out Safety Training on Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance at SMKN 1 Ngawen, Gunungkidul. This program was conducted on June 1 to November 30 2025 with the aim of improving teachers’ skills in hazard identification, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), using personal protective equipment, and practicing safe workshops.

The evaluation results demonstrated a remarkable enhancement in the participants’ understanding of the principles of occupational health and safety. The teachers who participated in the training were able to formulate responsive and structured JSAs at the level of the industry and exhibited a greater understanding of the practices of risk control in the workshops of heavy equipment.
The partnership with PT United Tractors Semarang offered participants valuable industrial knowledge to ensure that the training content was relevant to the workplace. The teachers were able to create a protected learning environment that included the use of mandatory personal protective equipment, reorganizing the arrangement of workshops, and the construction of safety information boards.
This activity meets the SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through improving the pedagogical skills of vocational teachers and equipping graduates with the skills required by the labour market, thereby enhancing the link between educational and industrial partnerships. This activity also advances the partnership between Vocational Schools and Industry.
