The five lecturer of UGM Vocational School, Mechanical Engineering Department has carried out Safety Training on Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance at SMKN 1 Ngawen, Gunungkidul. This program was conducted on June 1 to November 30 2025 with the aim of improving teachers’ skills in hazard identification, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), using personal protective equipment, and practicing safe workshops.

The evaluation results demonstrated a remarkable enhancement in the participants’ understanding of the principles of occupational health and safety. The teachers who participated in the training were able to formulate responsive and structured JSAs at the level of the industry and exhibited a greater understanding of the practices of risk control in the workshops of heavy equipment. read more

Yogyakarta, September 2025 — The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM) organized a community service program titled “Enhancing Vocational School Teachers’ Competence in Heavy Equipment through Reverse Engineering Technology Training” held from September 8–10, 2025, at both the DTM SV UGM and Fablab Jogja Indonesia, located within the Field Research Center (FRC) UGM, Kulon Progo.

The program was led by  Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, along with lecturers and students from DTM SV UGM: Setyawan Bekti Wibowo, Handoko, Sugiyanto, Agustinus Winarno, Ilham Ayu Putri Pratiwi, Tofaenal Akhyar, Luthfi Athaya Wicaksono, and Ahmad Muhsin Al Mataromi. They were supported by Ahmat Hari Setiyawan, technical staff from the CoE Fablab Jogja Indonesia, and industrial collaborators from PT United Tractors, Tbk. This meeting represents the initial stage of collaboration for the 2025 Community Service Program, which focuses on welding training and the fabrication of portable event tents. Yogyakarta, 16 September 2025 – The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), in collaboration with PT United Tractors, successfully conducted a Training on IoT Applications in Heavy Equipment as part of its community service initiatives. The program was held online on 15 September 2025 and continued with an in-person session on 16 September 2025 at the Sekip Campus, DTM SV UGM.

Participants from three vocational high schools—SMKN 1 Ngawen, SMK Veteran 1 Sukoharjo, and SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Playen—joined the training. The program was led by Ir. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., IPM, supported by academic staff such as M. Hilmi Wicaksono, S.T., alongside student and alumni assistants including Rian Miftahul Huda and Yogi Ilham Ruswara. PT United Tractors played a key role as the industrial partner in this initiative. read more

Yogyakarta, October 2025 — The research team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTM SV UGM), particularly from the Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Management Engineering Study Program (TPPAB), has successfully completed a study focusing on the performance and fuel efficiency analysis of the Komatsu PC195LC diesel engine, with specific emphasis on the fuel injection system and injector components.

This research represents a continuation of a long-term collaborative initiative between academia and industry, aimed at the development of environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient excavator units. The research involved both academic and industry experts, including Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, Sugiyanto, Ilham Ayu Putri Pratiwi, Braam Delfian Prihandianto, Muhammad Novan Budi Prasetyo, Sutikno, Josua Aditya Manuel, Haidar Ali Fikri, Yanuar Khafid H., and Setyawan Adi Nugroho.
